Team Second Skin on "Inside West Coast Customs: Steampunk VW" Season 7 Premiere March 21, 2017 02:56

A couple who are fans of the steampunk genre turn to the team at WCC to customize their rare 1960s split-window Volkswagen bus. The crew at WCC had a serious heat issue to deal with having a rear engine vehicle for the build, so Chad contact Second Skin to help solve the issue. Ken and Eric went out to Burbank to help and check out this sweet build. We used our new product MegaBlock Hydrophobic Melamine Foam to solve the heat issue (1,000 degree heat reflection) and lined the entire vehicle with Damplifier Pro CLD and Luxury Liner Pro MLV to block out the bad sounds and insulate the ride for perfect living/traveling conditions all over the USA. Video footage is owned by Velocity Channel and West Coast Customs, Second Skin is authorized to share our clip of the episode. #SoundDeadening #TeamSecondSkin #SecondSkinForTheWIn #WestCoastCustoms #SteamPunkVW #VelocityChannel Season 7 Episode 1

  2. Surprisingly sticky 5 Star Review

I'd equate this to the 3M yellow automotive spray adhesive. The heat resistance was really what I was looking for with this product. The taped on paper label scared me for a second because it was like someone bought a can of spray adhesive from a store and printed out their own label and taped it on there. Anyway, the coverage and spray nozzle are good. As long as you allow both surfaces to tack up, you'll be satisfied with the bond.

  3. Must have 5 Star Review

The spray was very controllable making it very easy to apply without getting it everywhere. This stuff is extremely sticky and does the job. I had plenty left over as I only used it on the vertical surfaces. I am sure I can find other uses when a good contact cement is needed.

  4. Great Stuff! 5 Star Review

Seemed to work well... I'll be able to give a better review after it's survived the summer heat here in Phoenix, but it works well with heavy material and it's a great price!

  6. Works well with good stick even for heavier materials 5 Star Review

I've used similar products before (basically it's extra strength headliner adhesive). This stuff works just like the others. It's about the same cost as the stuff at your local parts store, so I just threw it in on the same order from second skin. It's a larger can than I've found locally, so I consider that a good thing. It makes it a little unwieldy inside a tight door, but any can would be.

Washing your hands after use is a little involved with this type of adhesive. I recommend some disposable gloves because you'll get some on your fingers at least. I'd also recommend a long sleeve shirt you don't mind getting stuff on because pulling it out of your arm hair is like pulling a bandaid off, but a bandaid comes off easier.

Some hit my garage floor, but no problems there since it's concrete. If you've got a non-slip garage floor you might want to lay down a drop cloth because you want to get the edges, and that means some will miss. Keep a clean work environment when working with the adhesive. You wouldn't want this stuff getting all over your tools or they'll be a little gummy.

Works as intended. I would recommend it for installing any foam products.
