We have a few types of sound blankets to consider. We have acoustic blankets and soundproof blankets. The right one for you will depend on the noise, the location, and your goals. Let’s take a quick detour to cover the difference between acoustics and soundproofing. Soundproofing materials are used when you need to block sound from entering or exiting a space. This is when you need to prevent the sound from traveling between two locations and reduce the overall noise level. Acoustics improve the overall quality of the sound, or speech intelligibility, inside a space. Acoustic materials absorb reflected sound to reduce echoes and reverberations.

Acoustic blankets generally should be used along with a barrier because they will not block sound on their own.
