Noise Reduction Uses...

Whether you are looking to quiet down your street rod, or make your daily driver silent like a luxury car. Damplifier Pro reduces structure borne noise that is the result of harmonics resonating from the vehicles sheet metal. Damplifier Pro stops this noise like your hand does when holding a wind chime or bell.

Damplifier Pro is a constraint layer damper that converts vibration energy into low level heat. This conversion of energy makes it 300% more efficient than tar boards and asphalt mats while weighing half as much.

Mobile Audio

Aftermarket, sound systems lose a lot of musical energy in vibrating and flexing metal panels. Not only are these vibrations loud, they also limit the potential of your stereo.

Damplifier Pro will help improve your audio system in several ways:

1. Reducing panel distortion and strengthen the area around the speakers.

2. Increasing the volume of your music by keeping the acoustical energy in the car.

3. Reducing unwanted ambient noise like road noise, engine noise & exhaust.

To help block higher frequencies of road, engine and exhaust noise, use Luxury Liner Pro on top of Damplifier Pro.

Thermal Insulation

1. Ultra-thick foil layer acts as a radiant barrier, reflecting heat away.

2. Foil dissipates heat by increasing the surface area.

3. High quality made in the USA butyl rubber reduces heat transfer.

The next level of thermal insulation is to install  Heatwave Pro or Luxury Liner Pro on top of Damplifier Pro.

FAQ

What is the difference between Damplifier Pro and Damplifier?
Damplifier Pro is 2mm thick and Damplifier is 1mm thick.
The foil is the same at 6.5 mils. The difference is in the thickness of butyl adhesive.

What makes Second Skin Damplifier different from asphalt roofing products?
Unlike roofing products, Damplifier and Damplifier Pro use 100% butyl rubber. This is safe for use inside vehicles, virtually odorless and designed by automotive engineers. Damplifier Pro cannot be rolled because of the thickness of the foil. Thicker foil means better vibration control.

Why is Damplifier Pro not on rolls?
Products that come on rolls are roof tapes/tars relabeled as sound deadener. Quality sound insulation is manufactured in sheets, no exceptions.

How much CLD deadener do I need to use?

Covering the vehicle's interior sheet metal with 25% coverage, will reduce some harmonic distortion. In many cases 50% to 60% is necessary for effective results. With extreme bass and large engines, users may need to cover up to 100% for maximum benefits.. This depends on the intensity of the audio system, volume of road noise, engine noise or exhaust drone.

Applying a MLV noise barrier like Luxury Liner Pro on top of Damplifier pro will more than triple the results.

Why not use tar boards or asphalt?

Traditional noise mats are mostly inefficient mass loaders; heavy tar boards that work by adding weight to the cars metal. This method is over 70 years old, and is very inefficient.

Damplifier Pro Specification:

  • 6.5 mil foil -BLACK with ghosted logo
  • 2 mm thick (80 mils) +/- 10%
  • Adhesive = butyl rubber - 99.94% solids content
  • .6 lbs. per square foot +/- 10%
  • Sheet size 12" x 20" (1.67 sq. ft.)
  • High temperature butyl adhesive with increased elastomeric properties
  • Higher rubber content and less fillers means better performance.

Second Skin Damplifier B Stock 40 Pound Mix Box Trunk Install Project 11:48

I created this video because so many customers call/email and want to know what comes in the 40 pound mix box of B Stock Damplifier/Damplifier Pro. The product contains trimmed factory error pieces of both Damplifier and Damplifier Pro, we try to keep it more Pro than regular, the pieces are hand trimmed to remove any unusable pieces and it results in a great discounted box for dampers on a budget. The B Stock does contain pieces that may have wrinkles, uneven edges, and/or +/- 25% butyl rubber thickness but are still made from the same high quality 100% American made butyl rubber and 6.5 mil foil as the A Stock Damplifiers. B Stock products are not always in stock as they only are available upon factory errors, but they do come back in stock in burst throughout the year so always check back if they are out of stock when you first check. The 40 pound B Stock box can be found and purchased here at: http://store.secondskinaudio.com/damplifier-damplifier-pro-mix-b-stock-40-pounder/ In this project I used about 15 pounds of the 40 pounds of B Stock. I only did single layer coverage as I do not have a loud bass system or loud exhaust in this vehicle. The 40 pound Box can cover between 60-90 sqft enough to the average sized car floor, doors, and trunk area. Second Skin For The Win!!!!

  2. 40 pounder is huge 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Oct 2016

I was very happy when I saw the amount of sound deadener in the 40 pounder. I've had a-stock & I've had b-stock. The b-stock did everything I wanted to do. My car is so quiet. I could really hear the difference. I don't have the most luxurious car, but my doors sound like a brand new car.

  3. The #40 package rocks… 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Aug 2015

Yes, the #40 package rocks… Less than half the sheet came dimensionally challenged (LxWxD) & that just made it easier to cut up for nooks and crannies, surround the hinge/latch/handle attachment points, and cover the hanging stamped edges. Money is tight here and Secondskin ‘B’ grade sold by weight made the following possible & nearly painless:

10 pounds got my brand new RAM Promaster high-roof Vans back doors closing Lexus quiet AND set up the door cavities as excellent speaker boxes.

12 pounds on the cargo areas wheel well tubs snubbed 70mph highway sympathy sounds from commercial truck tire howl from a pressure washer jet in an empty bucket to deep notes like falling water.

8 pounds turned the side sliding cargo door into a lush limousine quiet open/close sound, make sure you invest some in the B-pillar too. The remainder will be going into the cab area once I get brave enough to yank liners.

So... IF you’ve got a ground-bound blimp of a van needing hushing then the 40-pound ‘B’ is a fast path to luxury!

  5. B stock what ever without a micrometer you wouldn't know!!! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Dec 2014

The B stock is awesome and not just for the price the performance look and ease of installation
I have used many of the more expensive products and besides advertising for the manufacturer that no one will ever see after carpet door seals and such are put down you can't tell he difference. Without a micrometer you can't tell the difference in thickness sticks very well he black covering on the foil is awesome and if a small piece is visible around panels and carpet so what I have black interior and it doesn't stick out like silver color would. Thanks will buy again

  6. I have no complaints whatsoever. 5 Star Review

I originally started with the a stock damplifire and luxury liner pro in my 4 door ford explorer, so I knew how the a stock stuff performed and liked the results. with that, I lined my whole floor, inside firewall took the dash off to get way up there, the w rear wheel wells, rear quarter panels, and the outer facing panel on the inside of the front doors. I came back at it again this time with the 40lb box of this B stock along with 1 sheet of A stock luxury liner pro, and overkill pro. I was able to finish my roof (deadening only) and i took my sun roof off to really get in there, add more damplifire on the other inside section of the front doors both inside sections on the rear doors, and the outside metal facing the door panel of all 4 doors, the trunk lid, and i was able to touch up a bunch of other miscellaneous odds and ends on the pillars and what not. I also lined pieces along larger spans on the inside of the door panels. rear hatch panel, side cargo panels. I used this in conjunction with overkill pro to squish between the panels. Biggest overall difference between A stock and B stock is as described and expected. the b stock looks a little bit "pre handld well call it, not 100% smooth and consistent like a stock was. id say more like 97% smooth and consistent lol, some edges stuck together but pulled apart which didnt happen with the a stock at all, not that i'm complaining either. I got a couple pieces that had small cut outs, and a couple where the deadening didnt quite reach the end of the foil square. didn't stop me from cutting off the excess foil and using every last bit. I was even able to add the remainder of the damplifire on my dads mustang to line the rear deck lid, the trunk lid, and the area where the spare wheel would sit. I can't say I notice or believe there would be or is any difference in the overall actual performance of the b stock vs the a stock its purely cosmetic and for the price difference you just cant go wrong. I'm with the other gentlemen who left the review before me, another box please.

  7. Good product 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jul 2014

Just finished installing a full box of this in a 99 Suburban K2500. Installs fairly easy for this type of product. I found it easier than using Dynamat. My package arrived with a weight of 40 pounds per the post office. Keep in mind this is B stock. There will be some ugly ducklings and maybe a few odd and end nonusable pieces. This isn't going to be an issue unless you're trying for a show stopper. The entire box used covered @98% of the floor and the rear quarter panels on my Suburban. Another box please.
